Analyst: Putin’s refusal to negotiate with Trump could be beneficial for Ukraine
Artem Bronzhukov, deputy director of the Polityka think tank, believes that if Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin fail to reach an agreement, the United States could significantly boost its support for Ukraine
He shared his opinions on Espreso TV.
"I think the scenario where Putin and Trump don’t find common ground is the most favorable for us," Bronzhukov said. "Because that would mean increased military aid and substantial financial support. In fact, those who argue that Trump would be a better president for Ukraine than Joe Biden are hoping for this scenario."
Bronzhukov went on to explain that the Democrats, along with Biden’s potential successor Kamala Harris, were too predictable. If Harris were to win the presidency, there’s a high chance she would continue Biden's policies, including providing Ukraine with a level of support that keeps both sides from losing the war.
"The assistance provided by the Biden administration just hasn’t been enough," Bronzhukov said. "We don’t have the resources to effectively confront a country like Russia. That’s why many analysts and politicians, even if they don’t say it publicly, believe that Trump would offer a scenario more favorable to Ukraine and Russia. Specifically, he could pressure Ukraine to agree to give up some occupied territories, but Kyiv would also get something in return."
