Ukrainian official explains why Russia bridged northeastern Ukraine's Kupyansk
Kharkiv City Council member Artem Revchuk says that the volunteers who took up arms to defend their homeland in 2022 are very tired and in need of relief
Kharkiv City Council member Artem Revchuk shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The negative developments in Kupyansk are influenced by many factors, including troop management and a lack of reserves. Volunteers are exhausted, and many have been killed or wounded, so new reserves are needed. Unfortunately, the state is not handling this issue very well, and as Zaluzhnyi (Ukraine's former Commander-in-Chief - ed.) noted, the leadership has distanced itself from it. If there were fresh, well-prepared reserves, such problems would not have arisen," the official said.
According to him, those at the positions sometimes fail to prevent enemy forces from passing through, which leads to their accumulation, as occurred in Kupyansk.
“We need to work on this issue systematically, paying more attention to motivating the soldiers. Grabbing them off the streets and throwing them into vans is not the way, as such soldiers won’t be effective. My guys say that people brought in this way lack the will to fight, and this leads to issues with unauthorized departures from units,” he explained.
