Russian army tries to break through Ukrainian defense 22 times in Novopavlivka sector - General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported this on March 15.

Russian attacks across Ukraine

Over the last day, Russia launched 8 missile strikes, 57 airstrikes, and 46 attacks with multiple launch rocket systems at the Ukrainian troops’ positions and populated areas. Unfortunately, Russian terrorist actions resulted in civilian casualties. Multi-storey and private houses, as well as other infrastructure facilities, were destroyed and damaged.

Frontline situation 

There were 68 combat engagements at the front over the last day.

Near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the situation hasn't changed significantly, and no enemy offensive groups have been detected. Certain units of the Belarusian Armed Forces are performing tasks in the areas bordering Ukraine.

At the same time, the Russian army continued shelling the entire borderline with mortars and artillery: over 30 settlements across the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions were attacked. 

In the Kupyansk sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled three enemy attacks near Synkivka and Tabaivka in the Kharkiv region, where the Russian army was trying to improve its tactical position. More than 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian troops repelled nine enemy attacks near the towns of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region and Terny and Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russians, supported by air, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense. Artillery and mortar shelling affected more than 20 localities.

In the Bakhmut sector, Russia did not conduct any offensive (assault) actions. About 10 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Avdiivka sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled more than 20 enemy attacks in the areas of Berdychi, Orlivka, Tonenke, and Pervomaiske in the Donetsk region. About 15 localities came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Novopavlivka sector, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back the Russian army in the areas of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where the Russian troops, with the support of aviation, tried to break through the Ukrainian defense 22 times. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Orikhiv sector, the Russian forces attacked the Ukrainian positions 5 times near Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region and Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. About 20 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

In the Kherson sector, Russia made 3 unsuccessful assaults on the Ukrainian troops’ positions. About 10 settlements came under artillery and mortar fire.

Ukrainian strikes against Russian military positions 

Over the day, Ukrainian aviation struck 7 Russian military positions.
