Russian army intensifies its activity near Pervomaiske, prepares new assaults near Avdiivka
Officer with Ukraine's 59th Detached Motorized Infantry Brigade Serhiy Tsehotskyi says that Russian forces have significantly intensified their offensive in the Pervomaisk area using a large number of UAVs
He said this on Espreso TV.
"Over the past two days, the Russian army has increased the concentration of its attacks in the vicinity of Pervomaiske. The invaders are using their equipment more often, bringing personnel to the front line. They have also become very active in using drones, especially at night. That is, Russia makes a large number of attacks on our positions and also uses 'kamikaze' drones," said Tsekhotskyi.
The officer emphasized that the invading Russian troops continue to accumulate forces and means for active assault operations.
"However, the situation with their attacks has not changed significantly. The Russian army is trying to break through the Ukrainian defense along the entire front line around Avdiivka. We are also witnessing the accumulation of forces and equipment, which indicates the Russian plans to intensify assault and offensive actions in the Avdiivka sector. Today, the ground already allows the use of heavy armored vehicles, so it is likely that the invaders will dare to launch an active assault phase of the fighting," he noted.
- On January 24, Freedom Legion officer and Interior Ministry Major Maksym Morozov said that Russia had gathered about 40,000 reserves in the Avdiivka sector for a new battle against the Ukrainian army.
- Over the last day, 74 combat engagements took place at the front. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 26 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka sector and eliminated 1,070 soldiers.
