Russia's border breakthrough: Expert estimates Ukrainian control over Kursk settlements
Russia claims that in its Kursk region, Ukraine is deploying a large number of drones and effectively using air defense and electronic warfare
Defense Express CEO and military expert Serhiy Zgurets spoke about this on Espreso TV.
"Currently, we have information mainly from the Russian side. Ukraine's General Staff, the Defense Ministry, and the Defense Intelligence do not comment on the situation. But the data allows us to draw interim conclusions. Let me remind you that earlier there was information that the enemy could expand the front line and carry out attacks in the Sumy region. That is, the direction to Sudzha from Kursk was considered one of the most likely," noted Zgurets.
According to the military expert, Sudzha is connected to Kursk by only one road, and it is quite difficult for Russia to supply this section of the frontline, where fighting is currently taking place.
"This is a planned operation that began yesterday morning. There is confirmation that the Russian military has already been captured. We have seen destroyed Russian equipment, including T-62 tanks, which the enemy was trying to pull up on trawls. There was also a video of a destroyed Russian Ka-52 helicopter. In other words, we saw our units operating with new tactical insignia," explained Zgurets.
The expert added that the penetration into the territory of the Kursk region is about 7 kilometers.
"There are hostilities in the area of Suzha. Four settlements are controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian military officials claim that Ukrainian troops are on Russian territory in the amount of a battalion. A certain number of reserves are kept on the territory of Ukraine. The enemy claims that the Ukrainian side uses a significant number of drones and skillfully employs air defense and electronic warfare systems," emphasized Zgurets.
- On August 6, the authorities of Russia's Kursk region stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly tried to break through the Russian border, but were allegedly prevented. Subsequently, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that "the Ukrainian subversive reconnaissance group retreated to its territory.”
- The Russian Defense Ministry, the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, and some propagandists have different versions of the events in the Kursk region.
