Artillery has not stopped for last 3 days - military journalist on situation in Pokrovsk direction
Military journalist, cinematographer, volunteer Iryna Prudkova gave an interview about the situation in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region
The journalist told about it on Espreso TV channel.
‘For the last three days, the artillery has not stopped at all, there are small silence periods, but they are so small that you can hear bombs falling between them. As we understand it, the assaults start at 5am and 7am. In addition to this missiles are attacking, two missiles hit Pokrovsk last night. One of the social facilities was destroyed, and 12 high-rise buildings were damaged, fortunately, there were no deaths or serious injuries. Large stores are closing,’ she said.
Prudkova said there are different options to evacuate the city, but residents are in no hurry.
‘There are a lot of evacuation options, and there are a lot of options for refugee reception centres. I compare all this to Mariupol, which had no such chances at all. That's why I keep calling for evacuation, because if I'm not mistaken, there are 4 kilometers left to Myrnohrad, which is 1-2, maximum 3 days, and as of yesterday evening it was 7-8 kilometres to Pokrovsk - according to the satellite map of the fighting near Myrnohrad to the outskirts of Pokrovsk,’ the journalist said.
- On August 20, Serhiy Zgurets, director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, noted that the loss of Ocheretyne had opened up the possibility of Russian advance in the Pokrovsk sector.
