Ukraine's State Emergency Service in the Zaporizhzhia region reported the information.
"On July 11, at 6:18 p.m., the enemy fired upon a village in the Polohy district. As a result, a wheat field covering almost 4 hectares caught fire," the statement said.
The work of rescuers was complicated by hot, dry weather, which contributed to the rapid spread of the fire. In addition, there was a possibility of repeated shelling, as this is an open area near the combat zone.
The State Emergency Service adds that there were no casualties.
- In the Donetsk region, the Russian army is deliberately destroying Ukrainian wheat fields. On July 2 alone, they shelled wheat fields in the region twice.
