Russia sets up over 70 camps to "re-educate" Ukrainian children
More than 70 camps have been set up in Russia to "re-educate" children forcibly deported from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine
Daria Herasymchuk, Advisor to the President’s Commissioner for Children's Rights, shared the information on the United News national telethon.
According to the Commissioner, Russians conduct "medical examinations" in the temporarily occupied territories to find the healthiest children. Later children are diagnosed with "strange and frightening diseases," after which they are offered to undergo treatment in Russia.
"Russians kidnap Ukrainian children in completely different ways. This "treatment" is not a way of abduction, but rather a way of selecting children to replenish the Russian nation... Where Russians take Ukrainian children is also not fully clear. There is a study by the Yale Digital Humanities Laboratory, which has identified more than 70 Russian camps where Ukrainian children are being held. Although they are constantly being moved. The situation is the same with other children abducted by the Russian authorities. They are doing everything to prevent us from finding them," emphasized Daria Herasymchuk.
At the same time, Russia is committing the crime of deportation under the guise of "good intentions."
"But it brings nothing good for our children. What the children say when they return is horrifying. They are trying to break them completely. They do everything to make the child hate his or her own parents – they impose on the child the idea that their parents and relatives no longer need them," the Commissioner said.
In particular, she said that the Children of War portal currently contains data on 19,393 minors deported to Russia, but in fact, Russians could have taken about 200,000 to 300,000.
