Russia is using over 80% of its ground forces in the war in Ukraine - NATO Secretary General
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has said that Russia is using 80% of its ground forces in the war in Ukraine
He said this at a press conference with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in Brussels.
"Right now over 80% of Russia's ground forces are involved in the war in Ukraine. So, of course, what happens there has implications for Russia's overall ability to pose any threat to any NATO member state. So my first message to the members alliance is that we welcome the unprecedented support, we call for even more support, and we urge them to look deeper into the stockpile to continue to provide Ukraine with what it urgently needs," Stoltenberg said.
The Secretary General emphasized that the Allies should be ready for a long-term perspective and that is why NATO is in contact with the defense and industrial complexes of the member countries.
"We have put in place the structures here at NATO in terms of defense planning, capabilities to ensure that we are ramping up production now, that we are replenishing stocks to be able to continue to support Ukraine, but it's not just about supporting Ukraine - it's also about ensuring that we had weapons, ammunition, means for our own deterrence and defense," he said.
