Russia creates reserves from residents of occupied territories through raids and detentions
Russian occupying forces are organizing raids and detaining local residents to replenish the reserve of their troops, which are suffering losses at the frontline
Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar reported the information.
Russia conducts raids and detentions of Ukrainians in certain settlements on the temporarily occupied territory of the country.
Maliar explains that the purpose of such actions is to urgently replenish the army, in particular the frontline units, which suffer losses every day.
"During the raids, all detainees are checked for loyalty to the occupation regime, and men who are eligible for military service are arrested, mostly on false pretenses. As a rule, those arrested in this way are sent to specially equipped field camps, which already contain criminals brought from Russian prisons who have agreed to participate in hostilities," says the Deputy Defense Minister.
There are several camps near Rohove and Mozhniakivka, Luhansk region, where new batches of convicts from Russia, mostly murderers, are arriving. At the same time, locals detained for minor offenses are being added to their ranks.
There are over 800 people in the camps, who receive intensive combat training during the month.
"By the end of May, the number of personnel in the camps is expected to increase with the arrival of two more batches of convicts from Russia, convicted mainly of murder with particular cruelty. After the convicts have completed the combat training course, they will be contracted to participate in combat operations on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine," explained Maliar.
