Putin purges Russian elite - Security Service Major General on Chubais
Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Security Service (2014-2015), Major General Viktor Yagun has said that Putin is trying to eliminate people who have classified information on him
He expressed his opinion with Espreso.
"In my opinion, it is quite likely that Putin wants to eliminate Chubais. Chubais is among the people who were part of Yeltsin's team. They know very well how Putin came to power. Therefore, these people need to be careful. Because we all saw what happened to people who knew Putin before his appearance in big politics," Yagun explained.
The Major General emphasized that information from Chubais could be very interesting to foreign intelligence.
"Sobchak and Berezovsky died under very strange circumstances. The same applies to other people who know perfectly well about Putin's rise to power and his crimes. He kept Chubais for a very long time. Only now Chubais left big politics in Russia. And he can be interesting for foreign intelligence. Therefore, it is likely that Putin decided to get rid of him," he added.
