Provided weapons will "temporarily weaken" British army, but will help Ukraine
Military hardware donations to Ukraine will significantly strengthen military capabilities of Ukrainian Armed Forces - despite temporary weakening UK’s army.
On Monday, January 16, Commander of the British Army, General Patrick Sanders, stated this, who at the same time emphasized the need to restore combat capability of British troops as soon as possible, BBC reports.
General stressed in internal appeal to British troops that Ukraine will find “good use” for British help in the fight against Russia.
He emphasized that Russia's defeat in Ukraine "will make us safer."
At the same time, according to him, transfer of significant part of military equipment and ammunition to Ukrainian Armed Forces will also "temporarily weaken" British army. Therefore, according to him, it is vital that combat capability of the army be restored at a rapid pace.
"There is no doubt that our choice will impact our ability to mobilise the army against the acute and enduring threat Russia presents and meet our Nato obligations," he added.
