Pink Floyd collects £500,000 for Ukraine with Hey, Hey, Rise Up song and will donate it to volunteers
Funds were raised with the help of single Hey, Hey, Rise Up, recorded back in March using vocals of leader of Ukrainian Boombox band Andriy Khlyvnyuk
Pink Floyd leader David Gilmour shared this on Facebook.
“Pink Floyd would like to thank everyone who has supported Hey, Hey, Rise Up. The single, recorded on 30th March with Andriy Khlyvnyuk of the Ukrainian band Boombox, has so far raised over £450,000 to help alleviate the suffering of the Ukrainian people,” the post says.
He further noted that, together with Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, they added their own funds to the sum of £500,000.
They plan to distribute them to the following charitable organizations: Hospitallers, The Kharkiv and Przemyśl Project, Vostok SOS, Kyiv Volunteer and Livyj Bereh.
David Gilmour decided not to stop at one project in support of Ukraine and offered to continue assistance this winter, noting that Pink Floyd website has all necessary links and information.
"It would be great if you feel able to contribute to any of these charities directly," he said.
He also called to stream or buy the single Hey Hey, Rise Up via https://linktr.ee/pinkfloyd.
Andriy Khlyvnyuk reacted to the success of the project and thanked British musicians for their cooperation and assistance to Ukraine.
