Over 2,300 people evacuated due to Kakhovka HPP destruction - Ukraine’s Interior Ministry
More than 2,300 residents of Kherson and Mykolaiv regions had to be evacuated as a result of flooding due to the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported the information.
The Ministry said that as of 6:00 pm, 2,339 people had been evacuated from the flood zone, including 120 children.
Rescue teams saved 563 people, including 28 children, and offered psychological support to 201 people. Nine evacuation centers have been established. The Rescue Service has received 856 calls.
According to preliminary information, a total of 32 settlements and 3,625 houses are flooded on the right bank of the Dnipro River.
According to the rescuers, about 1,817 people and over 345 pieces of equipment are involved in the relief efforts. This includes 809 rescuers, 171 equipment units, and 45 watercraft from the State Emergency Service.

On June 6, Russian occupying forces blew up the Kakhovka HPP, completely destroying it. The tragedy resulted in the flooding of settlements in the Kherson region, including Kherson city. As of June 7, 29 settlements were flooded, 19 of them on the territory controlled by Ukraine and 10 under temporary occupation. 1,560 people have been evacuated.
