Ukrainian army destroys Russian forces with ground drones: video
Servicemen with Ukraine's Armed Forces are increasingly using ground drones to destroy the invading Russian forces
Defense Express reports.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces have achieved notable success in enhancing the use of FPV drones on the battlefield. This weaponry has become a truly intriguing solution for combating Russian reconnaissance UAVs, and a recent video demonstrated a Ukrainian drone operator expertly hitting the tail of a Russian Mi-28 helicopter.
Simultaneously, "drone" technology is also rapidly evolving on the ground. There is a broad spectrum of robotic ground platforms with diverse characteristics and purposes available to our military, which have been actively employed on the battlefield for several months.
Notably, "minelaying robots" have become quite widespread. These reusable platforms are designed to deploy mines to target enemy personnel or military equipment.
For instance, two recent episodes have surfaced online, showing the 23rd Separate Rifle Battalion utilizing a small ground minelaying drone on the battlefield to leave "surprises" for Russian soldiers in wooded areas.
Both incidents were documented near Torske in the Donetsk region. In the first episode, two Russians encountered a mine. The result isn't shown, but the Russian soldiers were at least wounded.
In the second case, a group of Russian soldiers was struck. In both instances, the drone successfully deployed the mine at the designated location and exited the area after completing its mission.
In general, robotic ground platforms are becoming another prominent aspect of weaponry spreading on the battlefield in Ukraine, similar to the earlier spread of UAVs.
Meanwhile, a recent forecast in the United States indicated that in 15 years, a third of their military could be robotic. This includes not only small robotic platforms but also autonomous missile systems like the unmanned HIMARS.
