Ukraine destroys Russian Mi-28's with FPV drone first time in history: video
A video showing a Russian Mi-28 helicopter being taken down by an FPV drone has leaked online, marking a historic first
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, Hromadske, and Babel, citing their own sources.
The downing happened on August 6 over Russia's Kursk region. Drone launched by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) hit the rear rotor of the Russian helicopter.
"The SBU has once again demonstrated a high professional level, creative approach and novelty of solutions used to destroy the enemy. We have many more unexpected surprises for the Russians," the source said.
Volunteer and blogger Serhii Sternenko was the first to share the information.
Sternenko reprimanded the original poster of the video, but since the video had already been leaked, he provided a high-resolution version of the strike.
He explained that the downing of the Russian Mi-28 was achieved using an FPV drone donated by Ukrainians.
Sternenko also mentioned that the Ukrainian fighters had "some plans that are now in danger due to the leak," as it jeopardizes the operators' safety.
Later, the volunteer clarified that the Russian helicopter was shot down by soldiers of the M2 unit of the SBU Special Operations Center. However, there is no information on the fate of the Mi-28.
