"Today, on August 6, in the sky over Sumy region, units of the defense and security forces destroyed a Russian ballistic missile, 2 UAVs and one helicopter," the statement said at 8:21 p.m.
The regional military administration did not disclose any details.
Sumy region borders the Kursk region of the Russian Federation, where shelling and an alleged "breakthrough" of the Russian border by Ukrainian Armed Forces have been reported.
The Russian Ministry of Defense wrote that 300 Ukrainian soldiers in tanks and armored personnel carriers were trying to break through the border. The governor of the Kursk region reported massive shelling of the region with missiles and drones.
The Ukrainian Air Force warned of numerous Russian attacks on Sumy region with missiles and drones throughout the day.
