Ukraine approves Buffalo MPV armored vehicle for military use
Ukraine's Defense Ministry has approved the delivery of the Buffalo MPV armored engineering vehicle, known as one of the safest in the world, to its Armed Forces
Ukraine's Defense Ministry reports.
This is a US Army engineering vehicle manufactured using MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) technology. The Buffalo MPV is called one of the safest armored vehicles in the world.
Its windows are protected by 15-centimeter bulletproof glass, and the armor capsule is made of composite armor, additionally protected by bulletproof grilles. The vehicle is equipped with a 9-meter-long manipulator with a built-in camera and sensors for defusing explosives.
The ministry says that the Buffalo MPV is a deep modernization of the SASSPIR armored vehicle, which has been used during military operations in South Africa since the 1980s, in Iraq and Afghanistan. Currently, the SASSPIR is in service with the armies and security forces of more than 10 countries.
"It is noteworthy that no armored vehicle of this model that has been subjected to explosions and shelling has been killed during its operation in combat conditions," the statement says.
- Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine's Defense Ministry has authorized about 20 models of armored vehicles with mine and ambush protection.
