Melitopol is key to liberating south - Zgurets
Serhiy Zgurets, director of the information and consulting company Defense Express, noted that Russian forces are trying to strengthen the Zaporizhzhya direction in order to secure the land corridor to Crimea
He said this on the air of the Espreso TV channel.
"Zaporizhia is a key city for the further offensive actions of the Ukrainian army, because in the future it is necessary to move to Melitopol, which is the key to the liberation of the South. Zaporizhzhia looks like a potential transport hub for further actions. I do not exclude that the Russian Federation also has thoughts, understanding that the Russian group on the right bank of the Dnieper, which is now trapped, will have to be rescued," Zgurets stressed.
According to him, the enemy will try to provide rescue operations through Zaporizhzhya, breaking through the corridor.
"But it is technically extremely difficult to do this, because the Russians do not have enough forces and means. The front line is 1,300 km long, and it is quite difficult for the Russians to hold the front line and carry out offensive actions. Russian mobilization will not increase the enemy's effective capabilities," added Zgurets.
