It is necessary to make it clear to the Kremlin that the nuclear catastrophe in Ukraine will be a tragedy for everyone including Russia, - Johnson
The United Kingdom considers it necessary to ensure the safety of nuclear power plants located in Ukraine.
This was stated on Friday by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson.
"I think that a system of protection for these power plants would be extremely important, a system that would allow international organizations such as the United Nations and the IAEA to monitor the level of radioactivity on the ground," said Johnson.
The Prime Minister said he was concerned about the possibility of a repeat of the Chernobyl disaster.
"There are other Ukrainian nuclear power plants. There are, of course, many nuclear waste storage sites in Ukraine. Therefore, we need to think about how to work together to prevent such a catastrophe," he said.
"It is necessary to make it clear to the Kremlin that a nuclear disaster at a civilian facility in Ukraine, the new Chernobyl will be a disaster for Russia and for everyone else," he added.
