Invaders destroyed 300 buildings in Kyiv, killed almost 300 people - Klitschko
As a result of the shelling of the Russian invaders in the capital of Ukraine, about 300 buildings were destroyed, more than a thousand wounded were in hospitals, and almost 300 Kyiv residents were killed
As Censor.NET informs, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said this in an interview with the Austrian newspaper Die Presse.
"300 buildings are destroyed. Kindergartens and schools are also shelled. More than 1,000 people are hospitalized, including 18 seriously wounded children. Almost 300 people died, many of them children", Klitschko commented on the question of what harm was done to the city.
The mayor of Kyiv added that about half of its population has now left the capital, primarily children, women and the elderly. "We see a trend that men have taken their families to a safe place and are now returning", Klitschko added.
The mayor also noted that as a result of the inhuman and bloody war that began in Russia, some cities near the capital simply no longer exist. "There is no Irpin, no buildings, nothing at all. Similar in Gostomel and Borodyanka. Or look at what is happening in Chernihiv, Kharkiv or Mariupol: we know the name of the one who brought this drama to every Ukrainian", he said.
Klitschko also explained to Austrian journalists why the Russian invaders failed to take Kyiv as they planned four weeks ago.
"The whole world is surprised how we can resist one of the strongest armies in the world. The explanation is simple: Russian soldiers are fighting for money. We are fighting for life and death, for our children, for our future. This is a huge difference. As a former fighter, I wanted to say one thing: in every fight, the main thing is not weapons, but will, and we are very motivated", said the mayor of Kyiv.
