High-velocity Kh-22 missiles hard to target - Air Force spokesman
The spokesman of the Air Forces Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, says it is very difficult for anti-aircraft units to shoot down Russian Kh-22 missiles due to their very high speed.
He shared the statement on the air of the Espreso TV channel.
"The Kh-59 and Kh-22 are Soviet-made missiles. The Kh-22 is one of the most destructive missiles that are in service with the Russian Federation. Its speed is very high, over 4,000 km/h. The enemy began to use this type of missile increasingly. X-22s are launched over the territory of Ukraine from a Tu-22M3 long-range bomber. With such missiles the Russian enemy struck Odesa," Ignat said.
The spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces noted that the Kh-22 missiles are very difficult for Ukrainian anti-aircraft forces to shoot down.
"The Kh-22 missile is extremely fast and powerful. It is extremely difficult for our anti-aircraft forces to shoot it down. We are trying to solve this issue. The entire military and political leadership of the state is working to improve Ukraine's air defense," he added.
