Crimea traps Russian army - military expert Svitan
Military expert Roman Svitan believes that if the Ukrainian Armed Forces have the forces and means, they can de-occupy Crimea before the fall of this year
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"From a military point of view, Crimea itself is a difficult territory for combat operations. However, as for the prospects of our counteroffensive, the Crimean bridge, which Russians use to transport equipment, can be destroyed very quickly. Russians will not be able to supply enough equipment and ammunition to defend Crimea by air and sea. Therefore, the Perekop Isthmus may remain their only reliable route," explained Svitan.
The expert emphasized that it will be very difficult for the Russian army to hold on to Crimea.
"If Ukraine continues to receive military support, it is likely that Crimea will be de-occupied before the fall. We will also need long-range munitions to destroy the Crimean bridge and all military facilities in Crimea. Then the Ukrainian Armed Forces can enter Crimea and liberate the entire occupied territory. Russians in Crimea are trapped. No army stationed in Crimea has ever been able to hold the peninsula. And they have nowhere to withdraw their troops," he added.
