CIA director William J. Burns visited Kyiv during massive Russian missile strike - Washington Post
Director of the US Central Intelligence Agency William J. Burns met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv on November 15 during a massive missile strike on Ukraine.
This is reported by The Washington Post.
The American publication writes that Burns met Zelenskyy on November 15. He also spoke with colleagues from Ukrainian intelligence. He talked about the US warning he made on November 14 in Ankara during a meeting with the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin.
The Washington Post source claims that the head of the CIA was in safe at the US embassy during the missile strikes. According to journalists, nothing indicates that the Russian attacks deliberately coincided with Burns' visit.
The Washington Post notes that the visit of the CIA director took place a few days after Kherson was liberated and Zelenskyy announced a turning point in the war at the moment of Ukraine's triumph.
"But it was a moment of extraordinary tension and uncertainty, too, as a Russian-made missile appeared to land in Poland, raising the question of how the NATO alliance might respond to a possible attack on a member state," writes Washington Post.
