China is outraged that Putin has mobilized West, alarmed NATO and the US prematurely - political scientist Berezovets
Political scientist Taras Berezovets believes that in the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine, China saw an opportunity to test the readiness of the West and Russia, but the results of such a test turned out to be shocking for Beijing
He expressed his opinion on Espreso TV.
“Putin flew to the Beijing Olympics with the sole purpose of talking to Xi Jinping and warning about the start of a war against Ukraine. It was immediately clear that China was not happy about this adventure. Beijing later saw an opportunity to test the readiness of the West and Russia, but the results of such an inspection turned out to be shocking. China is indignant at Putin because he mobilized the collective West today, that is, he frightened NATO and the USA prematurely. And now the response to China's possible actions in Taiwan will be completely different,” the political scientist commented.
Taras Berezovets noted that from Xi's point of view, Putin appears to be the person who, with his adventurous activities, created problems for the leadership of the Communist Party of the People's Republic of China. From the point of view of Chinese ideology, Putin's behavior as an anarchist must be punished.
“Beijing was waiting for its chance, that is, the weakening of Russia and the transition of power that will inevitably begin after Putin. And China will use this window of opportunity to take Russia or part of it under its own control,” Berezovets noted.
