"Any deliberate attack against Allies’ critical infrastructure would be met with a united and determined response" - NATO statement on damage to Nord Stream pipelines
After several leaks from the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines, NATO promises a decisive response in the event of a deliberate attack against the Allies’ critical infrastructure
This is said in the statement of the North Atlantic Council.
The damage to the Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2 pipelines in international waters in the Baltic Sea is of NATO's deep concern.
"All currently available information indicates that this is the result of deliberate, reckless, and irresponsible acts of sabotage. These leaks are causing risks to shipping and substantial environmental damage. We support the investigations underway to determine the origin of the damage," the statement reads.
The members of the Alliance recalled their obligation to be ready for the aggressive use of energy and other hybrid tactics by state and non-state actors, to deter and defend against them.
"Any deliberate attack against Allies’ critical infrastructure would be met with a united and determined response," the statement reads.
