10th FPV drone model now in service with Ukrainian Armed Forces
On Wednesday, August 2, Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov showed the 10th FPV drone model, now officially used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine
He wrote about it on his Facebook page.
"We are celebrating a small milestone today. The 10th model of the FPV drone is now officially in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It has impressive tactical and technical features, and we are ramping up production. The most important thing is that it will save the lives of our soldiers," his post said.
He mentioned that the relevant commission under the Department of Military technical policy, development of weapons and military equipment of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine completed all necessary procedures for the transfer of the drones.
Reznikov thanked everyone involved in this joint effort, including his colleague, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, the Drone Army, the manufacturing company, and all specialists.
"This FPV drone, like others, is assembled in Ukraine, but mostly from foreign parts. Our next goal is to produce the main components locally in Ukraine to ensure independence and stability in supplying our army under any circumstances," added Reznikov.
He also reminded that in the past 15 months, the Ministry of Defense has already introduced more than 30 models of UAVs with different purposes like reconnaissance, attack, kamikaze drones, and barrage ammunition. These UAVs have been officially classified as a separate category of ammunition. They have all been tested in real combat situations and upgraded by our military. Eventually, Ukraine plans to standardize them.
The head of the Ministry of Defense highlighted the ministry's flexible approach, allowing capable developer teams and manufacturers to showcase their abilities. Simplified procedures for accepting weapons and military equipment into operation have been in place since September 2022. What used to take up to 2 years can now be completed in a matter of weeks, thanks to the Ministry of Defense Accelerator, which assists manufacturers.
"We won't build huge factories right now. We will find an unconventional solution that will make a difference on the battlefield. Our progress won't stop. Victory is on the horizon," the Minister of Defense affirmed.
