Corruption in Ukraine’s MoD is only one of problems, says member of Public Anti-Corruption Council

Yuriy Hudymenko, a member of the Public Anti-Corruption Council at the Ministry of Defense, told Espreso correspondent Natalia Starepravo.

According to him, there are a lot of letters with complaints about the provision of the Armed Forces.

“There are several cases that need to be investigated in detail to determine whether it is a suspicion of corruption within the Defense Ministry or unfair competition. We have various stories that seem suspicious. We need to understand that the bids for the tender were formed for a specific future winner,” said Hudymenko.

“In general, we expected this somewhere, because corruption in the Defense Ministry is only one of two problems. The second problem is simply inefficiency,” he added.

According to him, the goals set by the public anti-corruption council are very simple.

“The first is to eradicate all the bad things that are there as actively as possible, and the second is to support all the living and healthy things that are there as actively as possible,” the activist said.

“Believe me, there are also people there (in the Ministry of Defense - ed.) who want some changes, who are making efforts, who have great ideas, and who need support,” he added.
