Ukrainian forces confirm hit on oil refinery in Russia's Saratov region

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the strike.

Units from Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, the Main Intelligence Directorate, and the Special Operations Forces, in coordination with other Defense Forces, carried out the attack on the refinery.

"The refinery mainly produces gasoline, fuel oil, and diesel fuel — over 20 types of oil products in total. The facility is involved in supplying the occupying Russian army," the report states.

A fire reportedly broke out at the refinery following the strike.

Saratov region governor Roman Busargin acknowledged the attack first. He reported drone threats and noted that sirens had been activated in the region.

At 05:03 a.m., Busargin claimed a UAV had been shot down over the region.

"There is damage at an industrial facility in Saratov. Emergency services are working in areas where debris may have fallen. No casualties have been reported so far," his statement read.

Meanwhile, Russian Telegram channels, citing local residents, claim that the refinery is on fire. Official confirmation is still pending.
