At the beginning of the court hearing on Monday, the accused Russian man confessed to the crime: "Now, in a sober state, I deeply regret what happened."
The Central Directorate for Combating Extremism and Terrorism of the Munich prosecutor's office said that as a result of the argument, the Russian citizen felt "violated in his national pride."
The indictment states that the suspect is a "supporter of an exaggerated Russian nationalism" who "unreservedly advocates the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine."
- On April 27, two Ukrainian citizens were fatally wounded in the German city of Murnau. A Russian is suspected of the murder. The German government has assured that crimes against Ukrainians will not be tolerated.
