'Crucial for countering missiles, drones': NATO praises F-16 effectiveness in Ukraine
Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, says that the F-16 fighter jets integrated into the Ukrainian Air Force have significantly enhanced the country’s ability to counter Russian air attacks
He said this in an interview with ArmyInform.
Dragone emphasized that these aircraft have become critical for intercepting Russian aircraft and launching precision strikes on Russian military targets.
“The F-16s that have joined the Ukrainian Air Force have strengthened the ability to counter Russian air threats, intercept Russian aircraft and deliver effective strikes on military targets,” he said.
According to him, F-16s are “particularly valuable in countering missile and drone strikes.” However, he also noted that their full potential will only be realized if there is sufficient pilot training, maintenance capabilities, and a continuous supply of weapons and spare parts.
To maximize the effectiveness of the F-16, NATO is actively training Ukrainian pilots and technicians, as well as providing logistical support.
- On February 6, the Ukrainian Armed Forces received F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands.
