Russian army lacks strong reserves in Pokrovsk sector — Ukrainian officer

Ukrainian officer Serhii Tsekhotskyi says that Russia cannot prepare reserves at the same rate as its daily losses, forcing it to constantly transfer personnel from other directions

He shared this information on Espreso TV.

“Our drone pilots observe what is happening in the enemy’s rear. I want to emphasize that the enemy does not have strong reserves. The invaders are constantly withdrawing units from one direction and sending them to the Pokrovsk direction. This indicates that the Russian reserves cannot be replenished in the quantity they lose daily. They try different offensive tactics, using civilian vehicles and sometimes armored vehicles, adjusting the number of assault groups from 2-3 to 8-10, constantly searching for ways forward but essentially ‘banging their heads against a wall.’ We have the means to fight back, as well as trained personnel. Every Ukrainian defender knows their task, their sector, and how to skillfully use their weapons,” said the officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

Serhii Tsekhotskyi added that the war has shifted to a struggle of unmanned systems, but Ukrainian forces are ahead of the enemy in terms of technology—possessing weapons capable of destroying the invaders from a distance.

  • On February 9, the spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping, Viktor Trehubov, reported that the Russian army lost 7,000 soldiers near Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region during January alone, while Russia lost 6,000 soldiers over 10 years in the Second Chechen War.
  • On February 9, 99 combat clashes occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. The Defense Forces repelled 33 enemy attacks in the Pokrovsk direction and 18 in the Kursk direction.
