Will Germany provide Ukraine with long-range Taurus missiles soon?
The German government is considering the supply of long-range Taurus cruise missiles to Kyiv in the near future. This decision is being discussed with the US, potentially leading to the supply of ATACMS
This was reported by the German t-online outlet.
According to reports from the circles of the ruling Social Democratic Party, the German government plans to announce the supply of Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine "in the near future," the German outlet writes.
"The Chancellery is currently working on this issue with Germany's most important ally and biggest supporter of Ukraine, the United States of America," the outlet says.
According to information from government party circles, the German Air Force has also given the green light for the delivery of German Taurus. Last week, the Chancellor's Office received a presentation from the Federal Ministry of Defense summarizing the most important facts about these missiles: availability in the Bundeswehr, risks, and effectiveness of the weapon.
According to the outlet, this decision could lead to the supply of not only Taurus cruise missiles, but also American ATACMS missiles. As several Social Democrats confirmed to t-online, a coordinated approach, particularly with the US, is a prerequisite for the chancellor to agree to new weapons systems for Ukraine.
