This was reported by the partisan movement Atesh.
"Russians are constructing the Rostov–Ilovaisk–Hranitne–Mariupol railway branch using forced labor from detained Ukrainians. Local residents, detained for the slightest suspicion or 'wrong' views, are being forced to work for free under threats of violence and repression," the agents revealed.
It was also emphasized that the railway is being built solely for military logistics, allowing Russia to rapidly transport equipment and ammunition to the front lines.
- On February 20, media reported that Russians had launched the Rostov-on-Don–Mariupol–Volnovakha–Donetsk railway connection to shorten the route for delivering military equipment to the front.
