US has plan and resources to fully support Ukraine through 2023 - White House
The US has a confirmed and reliable plan to fund the security, economic, humanitarian and energy assistance Ukraine needs for the entire year 2023. Disagreements between political forces will not affect this
This was stated by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan to journalists on Monday, Voice of America reports.
He stressed that Americans mostly support Ukraine, and both Republicans and Democrats rely on this support. So, talks that there are deep differences on this issue are inappropriate.
Sullivan drew attention to an op-ed by prominent Republicans, former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and former Secretary of Defense Robert Gates in The Washington Post, where they called for an immediate increase in support for Ukraine.
"It (the article) came, I think, within 24 hours of the United States announcing the single largest, most expansive, most impactful transfer of weapons since the beginning of the conflict — more than $3 billion," the Biden advisor reminded.
He added, the US Congress passed and President Joe Biden signed a law on the country's budget for 2023 with almost $ 45 billion in aid to Ukraine and allies, while the White House asked for $ 37 billion.
"That is money that we are beginning to obligate. And I do not see that money getting taken away from us. And, therefore, our ability to have the resources to support Ukraine with both the security assistance it needs, as well as the economic, humanitarian, and energy assistance it needs, is confirmed. It is there. It is rock solid through nearly all or all of 2023, based on that plus-up that Congress gave us," Sullivan stressed, adding that the majority of Americans support Ukraine.
The majority of Americans support the assistance of Ukraine by the United States, the official stressed. In his opinion, attempts to promote the narrative about the existence of "deep divisions" or a certain threat to the constant support of Ukraine by the United States are inappropriate.
