UN to adopt resolution on Ukraine's territorial integrity by February 24
The UN General Assembly plans to vote by February 24 on a resolution on the need to ensure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine
The Associated Press reported the information citing a draft resolution entitled “Principles underlying a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine.”
The AP notes that the UN General Assembly plans to adopt the resolution on the anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The General Assembly, which meets in New York, will begin its session on Ukraine on the afternoon of February 22. Dozens of speeches are expected to last for most of February 23, with a vote on the resolution to take place late that day.
The AP adds that the resolution is less detailed than the 10-point peace plan presented by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in November 2022.
"This was a deliberate decision by Ukraine and its backers to try to gain maximum support when it is put to a vote, UN diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity because discussions have been private," the article says.
