UN publishes number of Ukrainians who died in March due to Russia’s full-scale invasion
In March 2023, 178 civilians were killed in Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion, 587 people were injured
This is confirmed by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into Ukraine, the UN recorded 8,451 dead and 14,156 wounded among the civilian population.
From March 1 to March 31, they recorded data on the death of 178 people and injuries to 587.
The organization stresses that the real death toll is much higher because there are delays in receiving information from some places where the fighting is ongoing, and many reports still need to be confirmed.
According to them, this applies to Mariupol (Donetsk region), Lysychansk, Popasna and Sievierodonetsk (Luhansk region), where there have been numerous cases of civilian death or injury.
OHCHR added that most of the recorded casualties were caused by the use of large-area explosive weapons, including heavy artillery and MLRS, as well as missile attacks and air strikes.
