Ukraine records surge of fakes about war, Zelenskyy in France
The Center for Countering Disinformation has recorded a number of anti-Ukrainian information campaigns in the French information space
The Center for Countering Disinformation reports.
French-language resources are spreading pro-Russian narratives such as "France is fueling the war in Ukraine," "The West profits from arms supplies while Ukraine pays with lives," and "The West is responsible for the war in Ukraine," among others.
"Such messages are blatantly manipulative, aimed at discrediting Western aid to Ukraine and shifting the blame for the escalation onto the West. A special role in spreading these manipulative messages was played by the French-language network of propaganda resources, Pravda, which was previously reported by the Center," the statement reads.
The Center for Countering Disinformation also records a campaign in France spreading fake news to discredit Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The information spread that Zelenskyy allegedly bought a hotel at the Courchevel ski resort in France for 88 million euros and supposedly purchased a villa on the island of Saint Barthélemy. These reports are false and have been debunked by the Center," the message reads.
- On January 7, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine drew attention to AI images and videos of “Ukrainian military” being spread on TikTok.
