In the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, numerous cases of misbehavior by Russian Cossacks in schools have been recorded

This is reported by the National Resistance Center.

It is noted that these Сossacks were hired by the occupying Russian forces to guard schools. Instead, the "guards" are often drunk, according to the resistance.

"For example, militants from numerous private security companies from Russia, such as the Cossack Hundred from the Belgorod region, were engaged to 'ensure order' in the seized schools in the temporarily occupied territories. These militants are typically drunk and harass school children because of their appearance, including their clothes, haircuts, or dyed hair. There have been cases of not only verbal abuse, but also assault and illegal searches, during which schoolchildren have been victims of sexual harassment by the so-called security guards," the statement says.

  • In June 2022, the National Police opened 16 criminal proceedings against Russian military personnel for rape, and three were notified of suspicion. In May of the same year, the Prosecutor General's Office sent to court the first case of wartime rape against a Russian military officer.

  • Earlier, UN Security Council documents condemned any form of sexual violence, which can never be forgiven, justified or amnestied.

  • In September 2023, a Russian soldier who forced girls to drink alcohol and raped them in the occupied part of Kherson region was notified of suspicion of violating the laws and customs of war.

  • On October 10, the police reported that they were investigating 54 cases of sexual violence against Ukrainians by the invading Russian forces. The youngest victim was only 4 years old.
