148 firefights occur on Russia-Ukraine frontline, Ukraine repels 41 attacks in Kursk

On January 3, 138 combat clashes occurred on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 40 assaults near Pokrovsk and 41 attacks in the Kursk direction

Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff reported the information as of 8:00 a.m. on January 4.

Updated reports indicate that yesterday, Russia carried out four missile strikes and 64 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements. These attacks involved 11 missiles, 95 guided bombs, and 2,257 kamikaze drones. Additionally, nearly 5,000 artillery shellings were launched, including 230 attacks using MLRS.

22 Ukrainian settlements were hit by Russian air strikes.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian Defense Forces' aviation, missile troops and artillery hit four Russian troop and equipment concentrations, a command and observation post, and an air defense facility.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, the Ukrainian troops countered two Russian attacks near Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk direction, seven Russian attacks took place yesterday. Ukrainian defense forces rebuffed a Russian assault near Kucherivka, Synkivka and Zahryzove.

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked 11 times. They tried to advance near Nadiia, Makiivka, Hryhorivka, Tverdokhlibove, Yampolivka and in the direction of Cherneshchyna and Zelena Dolyna.

In the Siversk direction, Russian forces attacked Ukrainian positions twice near Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, 10 firefights took place near Chasiv Yar, Bila Hora, in the direction of Predtechyne and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched seven attacks near Dyliivka, Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped 40 Russian assault and offensive actions near Vodiane Druhe, Baranivka, Myroliubivka, Promin, Novoolenivka, Novovasylivka, Ukrainka, Lysivka, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Pishchane, Zvirove, Solone, Kotlyne and Pokrovsk.

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces fought off 11 attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions near Petropavlivka, Sribne, Kurakhove and Shevchenko.

 In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops carried out 11 offensives against the Ukrainian positions near Yantarne and in the direction of Kostiantynopil and Novosilka.

In the Orikhiv direction, Ukrainian troops beat back one Russian attack near Novoandriivka. Russian aircraft were actively working in the area.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian forces stormed Ukrainian troops' positions twice without success.

In the operational zone in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 41 Russian attacks over the past day. 

 Russian troops also launched three missile attacks and 10 air strikes, using three missiles and 15 guided bombs, and launched 357 artillery shellings at Ukrainian troops' positions and settlements.

In the Huliaipole direction, the occupying Russian army did not conduct any assault operations yesterday.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian military is actively using artillery and aviation near Ukrainian settlements.

  • Over the past day, Ukrainian Defense Forces eliminated another 1,510 Russian soldiers and a number of vehicles and weapons.
