Ukraine’s Security Service uncovers 10 spyware programs designed to get information on country’s armed forces

According to Ilya Vitiuk, head of the SBU’s Cyber Security Department, this is the result of a fundamental defence of the Ukrainian army. The SBU press service reported the information.

Law enforcement officers prevented the Russian special services from gaining access to sensitive information about the actions, locations, movements and technical support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

"Since the first days of the full-scale war, we have been repelling cyberattacks by Russian special services that are trying to hack our military command and control system and more. The operation we are conducting now is a cyber defence of our army," Vitiuk said.

According to the head of the SBU’s Cyber Security Department, the responsibility for the cyberattacks lies with the Sandworm hacker group, which is controlled by Russian military intelligence.

Cyber experts found that to spread malware in the system, the enemy tried to capture Ukrainian tablets on the battlefield to use the accesses and programs available on them to penetrate the system.

In total, the SBU found nearly 10 hostile spyware programs designed to obtain information from the system.
