Ukraine’s Health Ministry suggests possible cholera outbreak due to Kakhovka HPP explosion
Ukraine's Ministry of Health suggests the possibility of a cholera outbreak as a result of the Russians' blowing up the Kakhovka hydroelectric dam and flooding a number of settlements
Ihor Kuzin, chief sanitary doctor and deputy head of the Ministry of Health, reported this.
“We do not rule out cases of cholera, the situation will become clear after the water level drops,” the official said.
Kuzin emphasized that the algorithms for responding to cholera cases are clearly defined.
As for the possible application of quarantine measures in the affected regions, this issue will be considered after the water level drops.
Kuzin also said that medical institutions in the affected regions have drinking water supplies for at least two days, patients are being evacuated from flooded medical facilities, and hospitals have enough antibiotics in case of infection outbreaks.
