Ukraine urges residents of Sumy region’s border with Russia to evacuate
The border area of the Sumy region suffers from constant Russian attacks. The vast majority of victims are civilians. In light of this situation, people should evacuate the area as soon as possible
Lieutenant General Serhiy Nayev, Commander of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, made the announcement.
"The enemy is terrorizing the Sumy region almost every day with inexplicable persistence, not shying away from any methods. Russian forces are employing MLRS, artillery, and launching air strikes with guided aerial munitions," he said.
"I urge all citizens who live in the border areas of the Sumy region to leave," Nayev added.
The general highlighted that the Ukrainian authorities have established algorithms and evacuation measures in place. The evacuation of the civilian population is crucial as it enables the Ukrainian Defense Forces to more effectively counteract Russian invading troops.
