Ukraine receives EUR 10 million in military aid from Montenegro
The total amount of Montenegro's military assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion has exceeded EUR 10 million
This was reported to Vijesti by the country's Defense Ministry.
“The first donation sent to Ukraine, totaling EUR 83,650, was non-combat, meaning it contained only protective equipment for soldiers and so-called dry daily meals used to feed soldiers in the field,” the publication writes.
Protective equipment includes 500 helmets, 300 bulletproof vests and 600 armor plates, the media said.
The second batch of aid, worth more than half a million euros, contained 60 mm and 82 mm mortars and Soviet Strela-2M portable anti-aircraft missile systems.
The third and largest package of military aid to Ukraine to date from Montenegro is estimated at EUR 8.24 million. It consisted of 216 Strela-2M MANPADS, 759 57 mm anti-aircraft shells and almost 8,000 76 mm shells, as well as 2.3 million rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition.
Montenegro sent the last package to Ukraine in September 2022. It contained spare parts for Mi-8 helicopters.
Previously, information about Montenegro's military assistance to Ukraine was classified at the NATO level, the Defense Ministry explained at Vijesti's request, but after the Alliance allies began to make the data public, the classification was lifted.
The ministry emphasized that Montenegro will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine, including the possibility of accepting wounded Ukrainian defenders for treatment.
