This was reported by Global Firepower.
According to the GFP index, Ukraine is among the 15 most powerful armies in the world.
In 2023, the Power Index of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reaches 0.2516. Last year, Ukraine took 22nd place.
The ideal score according to Global Firepower parameters is 0.0000.
“As Ukraine continues its defense against Russia, it has increased its GFP index score for the current year as a result of its response, financial and material backing from the West, and introduction of new key categories which benefit its overall placement on the list,” Global Firepower writes.
Next to Ukraine in the ranking were Egypt (14th place) and Australia (16th place). Notably, Russia still takes the 2nd place in the ranking. At the same time, the organization noted that "The ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War has showcased key limitations in Russian military capabilities despite its quantitative manpower and material advantage over neighboring Ukraine - shedding light on preparedness, leadership, training, and supply issues."
The top places in the Global Firepower rating were taken by the armies of the United States, Russia, China, India, Great Britain, South Korea, Pakistan, Japan, France and Italy.
- As of December 23, 2022, Moscow believes that "significant progress has been made in the demilitarization" of Ukraine, which is one of the initial targets of Russia's invasion.
