The next six months will be a key period in the war for both Ukraine and its allies. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are likely to counterattack in Zaporizhzhia and Luhansk regions
This opinion was expressed by NATO officials to BILD.
The sources believe that the weapons currently being supplied by the West will be used as early as May to oust the Russian army that has invaded from the south and east of Ukraine. According to them, the partners are currently doing everything necessary to prepare the Ukrainian Armed Forces for a counteroffensive.
"We are preparing for an offensive in the spring or summer. The next six months will be a key period in the war, not only for Ukraine but also for the allies," the source said.
The sources do not name the points where the counteroffensive will be directed, but it will obviously be Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia regions, the media outlet writes. The sources also do not rule out that Ukraine will liberate Crimea.
"Ukraine's air defense is much stronger today than it was at the beginning of the war," the unnamed official said, emphasizing that this is a signal that Ukraine will be able to achieve a breakthrough and liberate new territories in the coming months.
