Ukraine shifts to active defense - Lieutenant General Romanenko
The founder of the Safe Skies over Ukraine charitable foundation, Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, believes that Ukraine should scale up defense system preparations and accumulate reserves to implement plans for the next year
He expressed this opinion on the Espreso TV channel.
"We need to deal with the defense system right now. We have moved to active defense on the front line. Today, we are engaged in a positional war with counterattacks on our part in certain areas. We need to reinforce this with engineering structures and fortifications. A defense system must be formed, the border administrations and the whole of Ukraine must participate in this. We have to win time to prepare for next year," Romanenko explained.
The lieutenant general emphasized the importance of training reserves to prepare for next year.
"In my opinion, the plan for the next year will depend on how much we gather our forces. That is, whether we will be able to move from the defense that is taking place now to counteroffensive actions in certain areas that can ensure the fulfillment of strategic tasks. In fact, the entire plan for the next year will depend on our capabilities that we can accumulate," he added.
