Two-thirds of bilingual Ukrainians plan to switch exclusively to Ukrainian - poll
Two-thirds of respondents who use both Ukrainian and Russian languages in everyday life said they were ready to switch to Ukrainian completely
This is evidenced by the data of a survey conducted by the sociological group "Rating".
The third is ready to switch to communication completely in Ukrainian among Russian-speaking Ukrainians.
"We can state a steady decrease in the Russian-speaking segment of Ukrainians: in 2012 there were about 40% of such respondents, 26% at the end of 2021 and 18% at the beginning of the war. Instead, the "flow" of Russian-speakers occurs in the segment of "bilinguals" (from 15 to 32%). The number of those who regularly use only Ukrainian at home has increased slightly from 44% to 48%".
The survey was conducted on March 19, 2022. Sociologists appealed to citizens of Ukraine aged 18 and older in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. The sample is representative in terms of age, gender, and type of settlement. Sample population: 1000 respondents. Survey method: CATI (Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews - telephone interviews using a computer). The error of the representativeness of the study with a confidence probability of 0.95: no more than 3.1%
