"This airfield is of greatest interest to Russia among all others": Ihnat on Russian attacks on Starokostyantyniv
Spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Yuriy Ihnat, explains why Russian troops are constantly striking the airfield in Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi region
He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, Espreso TV reports.
According to Ihnat, Russia launches Shahed drones at Starokostiantyniv so often because the airfield for basing tactical aircraft is located there.
"Accordingly, it is of interest to the Russians. We have dozens of operational airfields, but for some reason this one is of the greatest interest to the enemy," noted the spokesman.
When asked whether the issue of resuming the airports' operation is really being considered, he said, "this issue is not my competence, so I cannot comment on it."
On the night of Monday, December 4, during an air raid, the Russian occupying forces attacked Ukraine with Shaheds. Explosions were heard, in particular, in Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Ternopil regions.
