"They are trainers and tech support workers": White House confirms presence of Iranian military personnel in occupied Crimea
Today, October 20, the coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House on strategic communications, John Kirby, said that the US confirms the presence of Iranian military personnel in the Russia-occupied territories of Ukraine.
This is reported by AFP.
“We assess that Iranian military personnel were on the ground in Crimea and assisted Russia in these operations,” White House national security spokesman John Kirby said and added that the Iranians were trainers and tech support workers, as well as provided technical support for launching Iranian kamikaze drones.
“Tehran is now directly engaged on the ground, and through the provision of weapons that are impacting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine,” he said.
He emphasized that "the United States is going to pursue all means to expose, deter and confront Iran's provision of these munitions against the Ukrainian people", in particular by imposing sanctions against Iran and Russia.
